Mariposa Stitch Workshop - 1 May 2025

Learn the art of basket coiling using beautiful hand-dyed raffia! Janet is the Creative Director at The Raffia Connection and has been teaching Art & Craft in a primary school setting for many years, as well as sharing the art of basket coiling at fibre events and markets around Melbourne.

You will learn how to create a small art piece using the mariposa stitch technique. Suitable for advanced makers and for those who have done some basket coiling. For complete beginners, we recommend starting with either the Blanket Stitch or Random Stitch Workshop.

Time: 7 – 9pm
Location: The Raffia Connection, 67 Margaret St, Box Hill North, Victoria.

All materials are included in the workshop fee – including hand-dyed raffia & needle. Additional raffia can be purchased at the workshop (credit card facilities available).

NOTE: Private workshops can be booked with groups of friends or work colleagues to celebrate an occasion!  Minimum group size is 6 people. Email us through the contact form on this website to find out more.

Cancellation Policy
* Payment in full is required to secure a place in this workshop.
* If you need to cancel or re-schedule a booking, you must do this at least 3 days before your class. We are sorry that we cannot refund or rebook any cancellations made online or in person after this time. In the event that you are unwell, we ask that you do not attend, but you have the option to send someone in your place. If this occurs, please email us the name, address and phone number of your replacement. 
* On the day of your workshop, please arrive 5 minutes before the starting time of your class.
* If the minimum number of bookings is not received, the workshop may be cancelled. In this case, a full refund will be provided.
